Music Video. Shut Up Antoine.

After recording the outdoor scenes at -6°, risking the musicians’ health, and a tough editing time to combine 15 different takes, the first video of Shut Up Antoine is finally online.

Here it is.

We used two types of camera, each of them with a different resolution, and a different frame rate. We ‘solved’ the problem using the following workflow.
-We did a first quick editing to select the good takes and decide the in-out points of each take.
-We transcoded all the selected footage to ProRes 1920×1080 25p (allowing for 2 seconds before and after for the transitions)
-We created a new sequence and repeat the quick edit with the new material.
-We created two different color profiles to bring the the images of the two cameras as close as possible one of the other.
-Once everything looked uniform; we applied the color correction and the effects.
-We adjust again for each camera
-We export it at 1080p, and to 720p.

Of course the optimal thing would have been to have equal cameras, and keep native format until the final export, but this is not always possible. In our case, we were looking for a particular effect by using the Canon 5D Mark-II for some of the takes, but i really think it is very difficult to use only that camera for a complex shooting, especially when you want to control your focus and move around freely on the stage. So we were forced to use the 5D for those shots and our Sony camera for the rest of the takes.
